Booking terms

Terms and conditions

These terms apply when you book a service with Doorstep Vehicle Servicing ("we", "us"). By confirming the booking you agree to them. If you are a consumer, nothing here removes rights you have under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 that cannot legally be excluded.

The booking

A booking is for a mobile oil and filter service at the address you give, on the date and at the arrival time you choose. The contract starts when the booking is confirmed. Nothing is taken on the website.

The price is the price shown when you book, per vehicle, including VAT, plus any call-out shown before you confirm. You pay the full amount when we arrive, by bank transfer, card machine or cash.

We service from the next day onwards, including Saturday and Sunday when a technician is working. We do not take same-day bookings, so the oil and filter can be collected before we arrive.

Your vehicle

You must enter the registration, make and model before you confirm, and you must tick that those details are correct. You confirm you are the keeper or you have the keeper's permission for the work to be done. Parts are ordered from those details.

If the details you entered are wrong and the wrong parts are ordered, the visit is still charged and the correct vehicle has to be booked again at the full price. That does not apply if you tell us at least 48 hours before the appointment and the parts can still be changed.

A registration lookup is not being used at the moment. The make and model you type are the ones we order parts for.

More than one vehicle can be added to the same visit. Each vehicle is priced separately. Outside the areas we cover, a call-out is added. It is not charged when more than three vehicles are booked on the same day, at the same time and at the same location.

Where we work

You must give an address where the vehicle will be, with lawful access and enough safe space to work. You arrange any permission needed from a landlord, employer or site. If the vehicle is on the street, it must be parked so we can work without blocking traffic or breaking parking rules.

Someone must be able to give us the keys, the alarm code and access at the start of the appointment, unless we have agreed otherwise in writing. Pets should be kept away from the work area.

We put protection down before work starts. We are not responsible for marks, stains or damage that were already there, or for a surface that is not suitable for a vehicle to be worked on. If the site is unsafe, we may refuse the job and you will not be charged, unless you gave an address you knew we could not work at.

Cancelling and not being there

You can move the appointment to another day from your account if you do it more than 48 hours before the arrival time. You are not charged again to move it. Inside 48 hours the appointment cannot be moved online.

You can cancel at least 48 hours before the appointment and you will not be charged.

If you cancel inside 48 hours, the visit may still be charged where parts have already been ordered for the vehicle you confirmed, or where we cannot refill the time.

If nobody can give us access within 15 minutes of the arrival time, the visit is a no-show. The visit may still be charged and the job is not completed. A new booking is at the full price.

We may move or cancel a visit if a technician is ill, a vehicle breaks down, or the weather or the site makes the work unsafe. If we cancel and do not offer another time you accept, you are not charged. We are not liable for a missed day at work or a hire car because a visit moves, except where the law does not allow that limit.

The work

The service is the oil and filter service described on the site: drain and refill the engine oil, replace the oil filter, check the listed fluids, and a visual look at the brakes, tyres, lights and wipers. It is not an MOT, a diagnostic test, or a guarantee that the vehicle is roadworthy.

Anything extra is only done if the price is agreed first. Advisories are notes, not a promise to repair. We are not liable for a fault we did not agree to investigate, or for a fault that was already present and not caused by our work.

Parts are ordered from the registration and the make and model you confirmed. Used oil and the old filter are taken away. Workmanship on the service is covered for 12 months or 12,000 miles, whichever comes first, if the vehicle has been used normally. That does not cover accident damage, a part you supplied, or a fault that is not part of the oil service.

Liability

We carry out the service with reasonable care and skill. We do not exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud, or for any other liability that the law says cannot be excluded.

Subject to that, we are not liable for loss of profit, loss of use, a missed journey, or any other indirect loss. Any other claim about a visit is limited to the amount you paid us for that visit.

Trade accounts

A trade rate is only for a business account. It is set by Doorstep Vehicle Servicing. It is based on the amount of business you place with us. The rate can be different for each business, and we can change it at any time. The rate shown on your account when you book is the price for that booking.

For the time being, no deposit is taken on a business booking either. You pay when we arrive, by bank transfer, card machine or cash. A deposit can be switched on for a business account later. A change does not alter a booking that has already been made.

A friend's code

If you enter a friend's code, £20 including VAT comes off your booking, and your friend receives £20 including VAT as credit on their account once your booking is confirmed. You can use a code only once. Your friend can give their code to as many people as they like. You cannot use your own code. We can refuse a code that has been shared publicly or used in a way the offer was not meant for, and we can end the offer later. It does not apply to a business account unless we say so.

Your details

We keep your name, phone number, email, address, vehicle details and booking so we can do the job, take payment, and send the reminders for that visit. Card details are taken by our card provider, not stored by us. We do not sell your details. You can ask what we hold by using the contact on your booking.

If something goes wrong

Tell us as soon as you can and we will look at it. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If one line is found not to apply, the rest still do.
